How much do you usually post in a role play?

If I'm starting a story or making a first post. My posts tend to go anywhere from 3 to 5 paragraphs depending on how much I want to write to explain the setting.

If I'm in a battle and it is my turn usually I stick to short and sweet posts with simply explaining what I do in a few sentences to a paragraph but I never do more then one reaction and counter action or one movement and action.

If I'm talking to someone it's usually enough to express my characters thought and actions in at least a paragraph and if I'm self RPing (aka writing a scene with my own characters) it can go any amount of length.

Flexibility is good to keep a story moving. I dislike people and groups that require a specific word count. It limits the flow too much.

I like to give a clear picture. Usually, I post two paragraphs. In my first post, I almost always post more if I am first. It takes a lot to paint the setting.

I totally agree. You need to properly set up the world you are playing in. A first post should be kind of long, even if the world is fan based. You need to know where they are at, any back story of the characters, what time/temp/weather/ect, and anything else important.
