Nix breathed out, she'd been holding her breath while Star was calmly dealing with the needle.
"Sadly, Casen, I sort of did see this coming." She spoke sadly. "Sophie was the surprise for me, but well, in this region, who can you trust?"
She shook her head, resigned to the bad situation she'd gotten herself into. "My only regret is getting you mixed up in this. You should be giving surf classes and hanging out with those girls you talk about, not dodging needles and avoiding death with me."
Nix folded her arms, looking around the room. "It's a dead end, but I haven't given up, yet. You have your recording, and we have the pictures. We can prove Sophie is involved. We just need to get out."
Despite things looking their bleakest, Nix felt an overwhelming feeling of hope. She had more proof, they were close to blowing this thing wild open, all she had to do now was simply not die.
There was a loud buzz, and everything electrical in the room began to vibrate and flash, and smoke emitted from the cameras.
"...What?" Nix began, until she saw a familiar friend appear in the room, with a less familiar body.
She ran to the Pokemon, and hugged it hard. "Error....Error...what did they do to you?"
Her Poygon2 was now a PorygonZ, and tried to hug her back, but glitched itself across the room instead, before flickering back. Nix gasped in dismay.
"He's getting better at controlling it, but it's tough going when he was forcibly evolved." A voice sounded in the room, as a girl with long brown hair and round glasses materialised as she walked towards Nix and Casen.
"Sorry I couldn't get here sooner. Even I didn't suspect Sophie, and I can't be anywhere near a camera. Not now. Too dangerous."
Catherine gestured to the smoking cameras. "But Error has seen to that. We can finish the reunion later, for now, we need to get you two out of here, and into safety. Or safety-adjacent."
She turned to Casen as if seeing him for the first time, which it was. "Hello, Casen. You might know me as the video girl. I'm Catherine, and if you're lucky you'll never see me again. Scism wants everyone who knows me dead. Which in your case, would be a terrible waste, I'm sure."
She smiled as if this was all normal, which to her, it surely was. An Abra popped from a Pokeball.
"Borrowed from a friend. It's an untraceable Teleport. I'd love to talk more, but...well, I think there will be time later. Look after yourselves, and look after Error."
Nix looked up from her embrace with her Pokemon, and tearily smiled at Catherine. "I don't...I don't know how I can forgive you for all you've-"
Catherine held up a hand. "Don't mention it. Scism needs taking down, and there isn't much I can do except be invisible, so when that means I can help people like you two, who can make a difference, I'm taking that chance. Plus..."
She paused, and jerked a thumb at Casen.
"He's taller than he looks on TV. Not bad."
She laughed, and the Abra opened its eyes suddenly, and Nix, Casen, and their Pokemon, were teleported back into the cabin Nix and Hillary were sharing.
Nix shivered as her body got used to the new lower temperature, and realised how long it had been since she had been in this cabin....then she noticed the claw marks in the floor, the wide open door with snowdrifts coming into the house, and the lack of Hillary herself.
"H-Hillary?!"

"You're too kind." Hillary smiled. "I'm no serious battler, Betty just likes to scrap and I indulge her. And we got okay, I guess. Bit sparse on the grass moves, though. What plan did you have in mind? I mean, that Mega Blaziken can tear up most things, right?"

Casen sighed when Nix mentioned Surf Classes and how she got him involved "don't regret getting me involved in fact this has uncovered a lot of things that someone I know wants to know... as for getting out..."
Just as he was about to mention his way out, a way became known in the form of Error Nix's now Porygon Z, the mystery video girl Catherine, and an untracable Abra teleport sending them back to Nix's and Hillary cabin. Where it seemed something had happened as there were claws marks. "uh I think something big got her..." He stated then shivered, not because of fear because of the cold, Base Layer clothes were meant to keep you dry not warm "I have to do a few things before I go out again." He hummed then pulled out his phone and hit a button
"Status Report Casen." Agent Kura's voice responded
"narrowly eluded another trap, nearly got the point but I got things to turn in and report and I've got another one to add to your list. I need a pickup and I want you to meet with someone who has a lot of evidence. She needs to know who is on the right side"
"Copy that, Scarlet is coming your way. We'll meet up at the cabin."
Casen hummed "10-4." He hung up then looked at Nix "Nix, I think it's time you meet a few of my friends that are involved with this whole thing as well. You're not the only one who's affected by things that have occurred both now and in the past."

"Well...." Nix began. "I was a complete outsider, sent here on an insane conspiracy by my boss at the publication I work for- and I've stumbled across many, many things." She spoke. "I'm willing to give your friends all of my information, if you trust them, and they're against Scism. But I maintain that this cannot be hushed up. My only condition is that I have freedom of press. The world needs to know about the atrocities in Godin, and...well, this story has become very, very personal."
She sat back on the cabin sofa, shivering, and dog-tired. It had been a long day.
"Please be okay, Hilary, wherever you are."

Casen hummed "I'm sure that can be arranged."
A teleport shimmer occurred as Scarlet, Nanko's Gardevior appeared
Casen hummed "Hello Scarlet,"
Scarlet gave a smile as she looked over Casen "seems like you had a little fun..." She projected
Casen chuckled "yeah... fun... uh... can we get to the cabin please and bring Miss Nix she's got a lot of evidence"
Scarlet hummed "one moment." She hummed "alright teleporting now." A teleporting shift occurred sending all in Hillary's cabin to the living room of another larger cabin.

In Nanko's cabin a shift occurred causing Casen and Nix along with all the pokemon out to appear.
Ami's head peered out from the kitchen "He's here!" She shouted then went for Casen glomping him.
Casen grunted as Ami glomped him.
Nagisa came out as well "no fair you had a head start." She then went over and also embraced Casen
Casen chuckled "gee what's with you two."
Ami looked at him "what's with us? You go out on a quest solo and end up seemingly being sent to your doom when that cable car was sent to the ground. For a moment we thought you were dead."
Casen laughed "oh come on Ami, you know I had my team with me, Star would have never allowed the car to 'crash' and kill me or anyone else onboard."
Nagisa hummed "I told her that... but she wouldn't believe me." She hummed "but what took you so long to come back here." She hummed "and what happened to your jacket."
Casen sighed "let's just say I had to stick with someone because she has an inkling on what the hello going on in this place." He looked at Nix "and let's just say I was too curious to just let it go."
"and it got him shot." Star added
Loco was still holding onto the needle "Colo Colo." (By this) He added
"fortunately we were able to reduce the damage down to just a jacket injected with a nasty virus." Star stated as she held the folded jacket
Casen made a slight face "Star, Loco..."
Ami sighed "Casen ever heard of the saying curiosity killed the meowth. You got to be more careful."
Casen sighed "I am more aware of that now then anything." He hummed "anyways, Nagisa Ami, this is Nix, she's also a very curious cat and she got info on things that have been happening around here." He hummed "Nix these are two waitress girls that people are saying they are my girlfriends but we're all just very good friends."

As the roar of a gyarados echoed the forest Saleme had found himself outside a pokemon centre.
“Deandre please don’t be battling in the woods” he muttered.
~Forest
A blonde haired man was yelling at the grunts that had attacked Hilary and Deandre.
“You’re kidding me right, I told you losers to make sure there less competition for the finals and you can’t even handle two trainers” The man yelled.
Soon all over the region pokegears would go off seemed Barry Blake had a new stream ready.
~ Godin Region Battle Network Broadcast.
Pokegears all across the Godin region would light up as Barry appeared on screens doing his signature wink smile and pose that made all the gals heart skip a beat.
“Hey it’s me!” he shouted wearing a alola style shirt. “Due to the heavy snow storm we decided all the trainers are being evacuated to the beach resort area so all be at your cabins for the trip there!” Barry announced.
“Oh and I got an update for you all!” He shouted spinning around as footage of Deandre and Hilary appeared. He’d freeze the frame when the two were clearly close to each other and smirk. “L.O.V.E” He spelt as he began drawing hearts in the detective eyes and writing the word ‘love’ around the two.
“Sorry Saleme looks like our gal Hilary stolen the detective’s heart how exciting!” Barry cheered as a map with Nix and Casen icon came up. “Plus look Nix and Casen are coupling up now two!” he cheered.

"Hi, ladies. I think I've seen you both before, at a cafe near the beach?" Nix spoke politely, and smiled. She pulled out a memory stick and placed it on the table. "This is a collection of the photos I've taken so far, Casen. Give them to your friends, and tell them I can give them an eyewitness account of the laboratory murders, too. Now, I'd better run out and find Hilary, I'm really worried she's been grabbed because she's associated with me."
She stood up, and made to leave. "It was nice meeting you two!" She added to the girls, before the television came on, and Barry Blake spoke.
"A scene change? Off to the beach? Can't say I'd miss the snow- Hilary!" She shouted, seeing the footage of Hillary battling alongside Det. Argyle, and she felt immediately better. She trusted the detective. Hillary wasn't in immediate danger, then. The mocking "love" remarks reminded her that someone was missing from the broadcast.
"Evangeline's a no show? That's never good."
Then she noticed the screen was showing hers and Casen's location, and made similar comments of love. Despite the stressful situation, Nix snorted.
"Really, the things the Godin Media stoops to. I've heard of trashy reality tv, but this place takes the biscuit. You're cool, Casen, but i don't think we're quite each other's type, are we?"
She grinned, and let a breath out. She might be able to stay still a moment, now that Hillary was accounted for, and the trip to the beach was soon to occur.

"What did he say, Chuck?"
Chuck sweated and growled, trying to shake his chains.
"Did he say Hillary found love with the Detective?"
Chuck growled louder, and his restraints pulled ever tighter.
"And who's Saleme? Why would Saleme be jealous? Is that another boy involved with Hillary? Popular, isn't she?"
Chuck seethed with anger, baring his fangs at his tormentor.
Evanna stepped out from the gloom, and pressed mute on Barry's most recent television appearance, which she'd been playing on loop.
"I know you met her, and didn't kill her. And I'm not even sure how. Those drugs we gave you....I'm surprised you even had a human thought left in you. Even right now, I don't think you can take in what I'm really saying, can you?"
Chuck shook and tried to free himself, his fur matted. It was impossible.
"Barry is always right, you know. Insatiable gossip. Hillary must really love the detective. You know what this means, don't you?"
She placed a hand on his cheek, just as his pupils dilated from the drug they'd given him.
"You have to kill them both, now."
As she said this, she pressed a button on her console, freeing him from his restraints, and opening up a door that lead outside, back into the frozen tundra. Chuck bounded out through the passage and into the cold once again, his hot breath making clouds in the air as he stormed into the horizon.
The door closed, and Evanna smiled. "Really, Barry. You're the best co-star I've ever had, and you've no idea how helpful you really are."

Casen hummed as he looked at the memory stick "got it I'll make sure Agent Kura gets it." He stated "and give me a moment and I'll come with you..."
They would be interrupted by Barry Blake's broadcast
Casen groaned when he heard Blake finish and Nix's comment "trashy reality TV is right..."
Nagisa made a sickening noise "I used to watch that believing it's real" She muttered "now I don't."
Casen hummed "and no worries Nix, we don't need to be the right type to be each other's friend and beside I'm closer to these two anyhow." He lightly patted Nagisa and Ami
Ami hummed "but they are moving us back to the beach... I wonder what for."
Casen sighed "who knows but I'll be glad to get back to the beach and hopefully back to something normal..."
"you never know Casen, normal for Godin abnormal for everywhere else."
Agent Kura came into the room
Casen grunted "ah Agent Kura," He hummed "man have we got some info." He pointed at the memory stick "this drive contains photos and I guess Nix witnessed murders or something at a laboratory."
Agent Kura hummed as he took the memory stick "most likely a cleanup effort. I fear that they are finished with their work here."
Casen blinked "work?" He absentmindedly rubbed a spot on his chest where it itched.
"yes... working on creating biopokemon and possibly even something more deadlier..."
"like what?" Ami asked
Agent Kura hummed "maybe a virus that turns humans into raging human/pokemon hybrids..." He muttered
"what?!" The girls shouted out
Casen blinked "uh... a virus that turns humans into raging human/pokemon hybrids."
"indeed..." Agent Kura stated "I've already seen someone changed and I only hope we can develop an anti-virus and return the human to normal before it's too late but I couldn't seem to find a sample of the virus."
Casen hummed "Agent Kura, I was actually shot with something that sounds like what you were describing."
Agent Kura grunted "you were?!"
Casen hummed "Star managed to stop it." He pointed at the needle Loco was holding "it was contained in that and the contents were injected into my jacket." He rubbed his chest again
"are you sure that's all it hit."
"I think so..." He hummed "but I do got this itch right where I was shot at..."
"Shirt off Now!" Agent Kura shouted
Casen recoiled in surprise "yeah... okay..." Without hesitation he took off his shirt and right where he was shot at was a reddish bump like it was a rash.
Both Ami and Nagisa gasped
Agent Kura grunted as he pulled out his phone and worked on it for an App and he seemed to do a scan with it.
A beeping was heard as the phone came up with something.
Agent Kura grunted "damn it your exposed."
Casen grunted "I'm hit!"
Agent Kura hummed "appears to be a minor infection. It's not the full dose because it's minor skin contact but it's causing your the body to react." He hummed "we'll have to get this jacket and needle to HQ to see if they can produce an counter virus before it spreads and if you get hit with another dose..." He grunted "I don't want to think on it."
Casen moaned "what should I look out for."
Agent Kura hummed "if you feel weird or unstable let me know ASAP."
Casen hummed "right..."
"And it most likely goes without saying stay in contact with people. Don't go radio silent." Agent Kura stated
Casen hummed as he nodded. He groaned "as much as turning into a pokemon sounds fun. I don't want to be turned into one forever..."
Agent Kura hummed "we'll make sure that doesn't happen."

Despite Gen. Tso’s grunt of affirmation, the Detective took a deep breath and exhaled. Due to the harsh weather, you could hardly see his breath in the cold. They were more-or-less pinned down and up against a not only a type-disadvantage Pokémon but extreme weather which limited visibility. Lots of factors were working against the duo. After what seemed like four months and six days (wink) the Detective spoke up again. “We’re gunna hit them hard and fast. Get in close under the cover of snow and do heavy damage. I refuse to run away from the work,” He strategized, meeting both Hillary and Mega Blaziken’s eyes for confirmation.
Gen. Tso darted off into the snow, a dull red slowly disappearing into the swirls of stinging white flakes. Just as his trainer instructed, he followed the gusts of wind to stay hidden out of the trainer’s view. Almost under Lapras’ nose, Gen. Tso ignited, surrounding him in a bright blue ball of flames. He charged toward Lapras like a missile.
As his Pokémon left, Deandre motioned toward another spot of trees not too far from their location. “Let’s keep moving. It’ll give the trainers multiple spots to keep their sights on,” He suggested.

Nix smiled at Nagisa as she spoke about she used to think the reality tv shows were real.
"That's a smarter position to have. I haven't seen any signs indicating Barry in involved, but Evanna has definitely used the media to twist perceptions and cover herself. I wouldn't be surprised if there's links to Scism there."
Nix looked at some of her photos of the lab thoughtfully as they discussed the pokemon/human hybrid virus, and nodded. "I didn't get a close look at what they were planning before they were all....murdered, but...that definitely seems likely."
She jumped as she saw Casen's rash. "Dang, that's close."

Hilary met his eyes and nodded, her hair blowing behind her in the cold breeze. In one fluid motion, she climbed aboard Betty, and she and the Scolipede galloped across the clearing.
"I'll try and distract them, it's hard to miss a giant purple bug in the middle of a snowy forest. Keep warm, I'm certain they want to tire us out by making Lapras wet us and having nature do the rest."
Betty huffed.
"I didn't mean giant as in fat, Betty, in fact, you're getting pretty skinny. Nice thorax, girl." Hillary giggled, as Betty huffed again, this time pretending to be mad while secretly smiling. The two picked up the pace, turned on their heels and fired some Poison stings through the trees towards the Lapras.
